Back Forty Highlander

Start Location: Back Forty Artisan Cheese 1406 Gulley Rd, Mississippi Station, ON, K0H 2C0

NOTE: THE BACK FORTY HIGHLANDER IS OPEN TO DAY PERMITS

From the picturesque location of the Back Forty Artisan Cheese Farm this marquee event uses the stunning roads of North Frontenac and Lanark Highlands.

Lots of single lane treed gravel roads await you in this beautiful area where maple syrup is the most abundant natural resource. You will be spellbound by views of the Mississippi River, Dalhousie Lake & the rolling hills of forests that dot the landscape.

Logging and colonization has shaped the history of this once more populated area. Today the old logging roads are quiet and the marble of the nearby Tatlock Quarry has given many of the roads a distinctly white hue, similar to the Italian cycling classic Strada Bianche.

Come challenge yourself on 4 different routes ranging from 35km to 115km. Afterwards, relax and reminisce with food and drink on the shore of the Mississippi River with the calming distant sound of waterfalls.

Highlight Sections: Ranger Camp, North Shore, Clarendon

The Spring Runoff is back again sending racers and adventurers alike over the best gravel and paved roads of the West Carleton area of Ottawa. KIN Vineyards plays host again to this popular event where weather conditions can be a big factor.

Will the snow have melted enough to use the Needhams Side Rd unmaintained climb? Will a light dusting of snow the night before cause the participants to experience the epic conditions of being covered head to toe in mud like last year?

Exciting new courses are planned for 2020 incorporating more off the beaten path roads and, as always a picturesque view of the Gatineau Hills and Ottawa River on the return.
